We went to the early service at church. Hailey was already there. Her friend came later.Worship was really awesome. Pastor Justin gave the message. It was a good one about fathers. After church, we prayed at the alter for people. We left and came home, changed, and then picked Hailey up and went to Frankenmuth. We set up our chairs by where Tom had roped a section off. Then we went to get something to eat. Fred, Lourdes and Jorge were getting hot dogs and brats at a stand. We talked to them for a while and met her brother for the first time. Bill got a hot dog with them. Hailey, Peyton and I went to Taco Bell and got food there. Peyton just got a drink. We went back and everyone was there, so we visited before the parade started and had big pretzels and red licorice. It was super special having Fred, Lourdes and his brother there and also Doug and Lela. Fred hadn’t been there in 30 years he said.
The parade was nice, but there are not the nice floats, lots of bands and other things they used to have that made it more special. Melissa texted me that Abby was dying, so they were leaving to go be with Max who was home with her. She died 5 minutes before they got there and died in Max’s arms. She was so loved and had the best family! She texted me and I read it to Hailey and Bill. Hailey and I had a good cry. I turned around and gave Hailey a love tap on her knee and some napkins to dry her eyes. I knew how hard it was for her so I took her home, while Bill went into Debbies. I needed time to cry and then have my eyes better before going to the party. Hailey really took it hard. I went back to give her a hug in the backseat of the Jeep and told her Abby was her dog, even though I loved Abby like she was mine. I always sent Hailey pictures of me and Abby saying she was my dog while Hailey was at college. We liked teasing each other. I have so many special memories of Abby. She was 16 years old.
I drove the Jeep with the top off and did a good job. I dropped Hailey off and their chairs from the parade off, picked up the boys swimsuits and stuff and headed back to Frankenmuth. Fred and Lourdes had to leave because her brother’s back was bothering him. He is having back surgery soon. I was sad they couldn’t stay. I was happy to see that Kenzie and Rehvyn came. It was nice watching the kids swim and nice visiting with everyone. The food was delicious and there was plenty of it.
It was nice that we got a 3-13 game in with Lela, Doug, Kimmy and Jared. Matthew had fun watching us play. He is going to be a volunteer for Hospice and also will be working at Covenant greeting people. He is pretty excited about it and I am excited for him. We had some cookies while we played.
On our way home, we stopped at Sister C’s and took her a plate of food Debbie fixed for her. We visited with her for a little while, then went to Melissa’s to drop off the baked beans Bruce had made. When we got home, Bill loaded some things in the camper. We played a game of 3-13 which he won, then slept in the camper again. We sleep really good out there.
