10/30/08

Yesterday, 10/29, was a very sad day for us. We had to tell Champ and Taylor (two of our beloved dogs in the family) good bye. We sure will miss them. Checked on grandpa several times as I knew it was especially hard for him being by himself without his buddy. Called Melissa a couple of times to check on her and the kids too. After taking dinner to him, I came home to get ready for All Stars at church. I had to cook the hotdogs and get my costume figured out and on me.
Also had to count candy corn for the jar. Vikki helped me the night before but I still needed more in the jar. There were a total of 1,110 in it. Thanks for all your help Vikki. We had gone on the computer to listen to James MacDonald who is on Family Life Radio at 3pm each day. We both love his messages. It was so late by the time we were done that Vikki volunteered to help me count. She was so fast I couldn't believe it. The job at work she does helped her to count so fast.
I was getting things ready when Bill called and couldn't get the car out of park. I went to his work and got it to move. (The same thing happened in the morning and I prayed and it went into gear for me...that's why he called me again.) That threw me behind schedule so I didn't get to take any pictures of Kenzie dressed up like the 80's. She did it herself after Vikki showed her what to do. She looked great and won 3rd place in the youth group. I got a couple of votes from my little ones...even though they weren't supposed to vote for teachers. One little girl told me she voted for me because we both had the same kind of hair (wigs) on, but different colors. Mine was black and her's was blonde. She said we looked like twins. She was so sweet. We had fun bowling with pumpkins, ringing the pumpkins, etc.
I am having Kenzie dress up again so I can put a picture on my blog. Tonight after doing her chores and homework, Kenzie took a break and made mazes out of paths she raked in the leaves. She had so much fun and took me through each one a few times.
She asked if she could rake the whole yard for me. Uncle Jared picked her up and took her to their house to spend the night. Kimmy will bring her here in the morning and we will get to spend time with her and those adorable boys.

Kenzie made this turtle in art class. One of the legs came off so she repaired it with the glue gun when she got home. I will have to put a close up of it on so the detail shows more.

10/24/08

These pictures are from yesterday and the day before. Kenzie and Hailey had fun playing in the leaves and sliding into them. Thursday Melissa and Bruce came to pick up Hailey. She was happy to see them. Once she knew they were home she kept asking when they were coming and wanted to call mommy. She really was happy to see Jack. When we asked her what she wanted for her upcoming birthday, she said clothes for the baby and looked at Jack. She loved holding him again and was so sweet to him. The pictures are of her holding him the first time since he came back from their trip. Dad picked me up and I rode with him to visit a patient. We had a delicious homemade pasty for lunch and then stopped at Kimmy's. Adam was sleeping but Jacob was just resting so we got to see him. He was happy to show us the pumpkins they carved and also the beautiful waxed leaves he did. He took papa out to see the pumpkins so I snapped a picture. This morning I went to Melissa and Bruce's at 5:40am to watch the kids while Jack had his surgery at the hospital. He came through fine. Got Hailey ready for school and then Max woke up. He was so cute and cuddley. We took Hailey to school and then we went to get a donut. We came home and he ate his cereal and then he ate his donut and drank his chocolate milk. Yum Yum! He wanted to watch his tractor movie so I found it and read Bruce's directions to using his DVD player. That took some time of course. Whe the DVD was over Max played with his cars and the road he made. Plays so good by himself. I prayed for Max when he coughed and then he asked me to pray for his belly too. I did and when I finished he said My owees are all better from Jesus. Amen Thankyou Jesus. It was so cute the way he said it. We picked Hailey up from school and when we got back, Melissa and Bruce were there. Jack came through his surgery good and slept alot most of the day. I went to grandpas and we went grocery shopping and also got gas. When we got home we split a king size hershey bar grandpa bought in the check out line. He does that a lot and when we get home, he asks me if I have a sweet tooth. Then we share it and usually a pop too. We put groceries away and gave TAylor his IV. Worked at fixing a sparker for grandpa's lantern too. That took lots of time. I love spending time with him though. He is so nice to be around. Came home changed and put groceries away and met Bill at the funeral home. He has to do a funeral tomorrow. Went to get my converter for my TV which only cost 2.50 after the coupon that came in the mail. Grandpa got his today. Dad had me pick up ice cream treats....

Hailey and Nana's trip to the Apple Orchard

Today Hailey and I went on her field trip to the pumpkin patch. Her teacher was really nice and is great with the children. I like helping her as she just tells you what's needed and doesn't keep you wondering. She had a plan and she told everyone what their part to do was. The pumpkin patch was only two driveways past Aunt Vikki's mom and dad's house. First we went in and learned all about pumpkin seeds and how they grow. I learned some things I didn't even know.
Next we learned all about squash and gourds. Then it was time to walk and see the animals. The kids were well behaved and Hailey was as good as can be. When I would go to take a picture of her she would pose for me. Another mom must have trained her son for pictures because a couple of times he would see me taking Hailey's picture and say "You can take my picture too" and then he would go stand or sit by Hailey. It was so funny. We went into the big teepee and a lady dressed up like an Indian talked to us. She had everyone close their eyes and imagine they were an Indian. She showed us different animal skins ...rabbit, opossom, fox, coyotte...
Then she showed us a carved wooden spoon, and a flask made out of a turtle's shell.
We left the teepee and the kids went to a roped off area and picked out any pumpkin they wanted to take home. Hailey loved her pumpkin and was so happy to carry it and take it home. We stopped at our house and she went potty, then we went to the apple store for lunch and a cookie. She played outside for a while afterwards. We came home and she played for a while and then we went to grandpa's to take his doggie to the vet. Spent time with grandpa afterward...had m & m's...and drinks. Came home and had a half hour before Kenzie got off the bus. The girls raked leaves and played outside...I'll put those pictures on tomorrow. Soon it was time to go to church for All Stars and youth group. Papa watched Hailey and read to her and tucked her in at bedtime.
