Grandpa came home today...

We found out yesterday that grandpa had a fractured hip. Two weeks ago when he got out of my car at my house he said "oh, my hip". I told him to sit until he felt ok, before going into the house. He said he was ok and went in. We ate and visited and he was doing fine. I took him home and when he got in the shower, his hip started really hurting. The next morning it was very painful so he started using the walker.
I wanted to take him in but he wanted to wait a few days to see if it got better. I called the dr. to see if she thought it should be x-rayed. I talked to the office girl and she said she would ask the dr. and let me know. She never got back with me so a couple of days later I drove to her office. There was a sign saying the dr. was taking a class. Dad thought it was getting better slowly, so we waited longer. Then it stayed the same so I called and got him into my dr. She had him have an x-ray and bone scan. They called us right after the x-ray and said he had a fractured hip and I needed to take him into x-ray to be admitted. This was on 6/16/09. He was admitted. Aunt Jody came to visit him as soon as she got out of work. Talked to Aunt Brenda alot keeping her updated. Aunt Jody and I had a nice visit and lots of good laughs. The dr. wants to wait on surgery and see if it heals itself in the next couple of weeks. Grandpa has to take it easy...No making his bed, doing laundry, mowing grass, feeding animals,...etc. He needs to be walking without putting weight on his sore hip, which he is doing very well. The therapist were impressed. I saw Nancy in therapy. Melissa had her many times as well as Grandma, and Grandpa. She asked all about Melissa, her family, and all my grandkids. She is so sweet. Grandpa came home on 6/17/09. Now we and many others are praying specifically for a quick healing of his fractured hip. We are trusting and believing. Oh, yesterday we caught one baby ground hog, and today we caught the big one and two more babies. I guess we have 2 babies to go yet according to Bill.

Aunt Missy got this outfit for Kenzie along with lots of other cute clothes. We loved this one on Kenzie especially.

Caught a big racoon last night instead of the woodchuck.

I went to grandpa's and hung out his clothes. The turkey was out there in the garden dusting, but grandpa told me to go out anyhow. The turkey moved but not very fast and not very far. When I was done we headed to take his car in as the check engine light comes on but not very bright. After there we headed to the bank to see why his card doesn't work when he goes to the store. We ran into Rody while we were there so that was a nice surprise. He came and talked to us by the car after he finished his banking.
Rody told grandpa he needed a car wash (there was lots of dust on the car), and then laughed. When we got home, we washed grandpa's car and mine. I soaped with a brush and grandpa rinsed. He asked me if I wanted to get wet. I told him no of course. I took the clothes off the line and this time the big tom turkey was out there. He didn't move very far away and stayed all the while I took them off the line. Came home and weed wacked, hung clothes out, and hoed the flower bed in front of the house. Took dad his dinner and had to hurry home as we went out with Chuck and Sue for dinner and a movie. Played cards after we got back to their house. The guys beat us 2 out of three. Only beat the last game by one point. We know how to make out hubby's happy, don't we. Let them win at cards. Big surprise today was our groundhog has babies. I saw three little ones playing by the shed deck. So cute. I tried to get pictures, but they didn't come back out once I got my camera. I did get a video of one though.

Kenzie's last day of school...

I planned on getting to dad's around 9am, but got a call from Kenzie at school saying they were going to swim so she needed me to bring her a suit. I quickly got ready, got her stuff and headed out. She was right there to meet me when I got at school. I went to grandpa's and he was just winning a game of solitare. He had such a smile that I just had to take his picture. I hoed a couple of rows of plants, before heading off to my dr. appt. They weighed me, took my temp. and blood pressure, then asked if I wanted to wait out in the waiting room by the tv as the dr. was not there yet. There were lots of others waiting, so I decided after a few minutes to just go and see if I could get a copy of my blood test. I was there for the dr. to go over it. I told them I could reschedule if need be. I asked if there would be a charge where the dr. wasn't there and she said no. Yea!
I went back to grandpa's. When I was there the first time, I wanted to borrow his live trap, but it didn't work right when he went to show me how to use it. He had caught a big racoon last night and it got the wire out of place. When I got back he had it working and told me all it took was one good bang with the hammer.
I borrowed it to catch a woodchuck that is enjoying plants in my garden.
Bill called me and said that gas at our station was ten cents off today. I took our empty cans and filled them and also put a little in my car. It didn't hold much because I had just filled it. Kenzie had a half day so she got off the bus at my house at about 1pm. She came in the door in tears. At first I was worried, but right away she told me she was crying because she would miss all of her friends at school. She said mostly all her friends were crying. I was always happy to get out of school. No boo hooing for me, even though I missed my friends.
I mowed the lawn while Kenzie swam. Then I gave her a list of inside jobs I needed done. She worked on getting them done before going to Aunt Kimmy's and Uncle Jared's. I went to dad's and asked him if he wanted me to fill his gas cans too, and he did so off I went. I took them back to his house and then headed out for our dinner. I got him a KFC grilled chicken meal. When I took it to him, he smiled and said I like this, this is a great meal. Thanks a million. I got to our house and gave Bill his meal, then Jared came to get Kenzie. She still had to unload the dishwasher and sweep the front sidewalk, so he waited for her to finish. Bill and I had to leave at 5 to go on the motorcycle to a camp for the handicapped. They are always so excited to see the bikes, sit on them if they are not wheelchair bound, and talk to us. They had great snacks for us to munch on. They are all so sweet and loving. We always enjoy our visits with CMA there.

Today I went to our weekly breakfast. Bill surprised us and showed up. We were all happy to see him. I left there and went to see if grandpa's doctor's office was open. It wasn't, so I went to see if this Educator store was open and it was permanently out of business. Next I went to Meijers to get wire for the garden to keep the pesty woodchuck out til I catch him. I headed to get some more plants after that. Went to grandpa's and he said his leg was feelling a little better.
He had a couple of turkeys in the back dusting themselves. I left and came home. Kimmy called me and said the boys had had dr. appts. She was going to go to a park so I decided to meet her. We had lunch together and watched the kids play a little. Adam came running up to me and gave me another hug. It made me so happy. Jacob came and did the same thing. They know how to make their Nana happy. When it was time to go we saw papa pull up in his car. We walked across the bridge and the boys sure gave him a good greeting. Jacob gave him a kiss and Adam said me kiss too. They know how to make their Papa happy too. Then I headed to Melissa's to watch her kids and Kimmy headed to my house. Max, Hailey and Jack were very good. We ate animal crackers for our snack. Then it was time for Jack to have his bottle and the boys to take their naps. They went to bed so good. I had to get a picture of Max so I took one of him in bed. I should have thought of it sooner. Hailey and I went outside and she showed me how she rides her scooter. She does great. I pushed her on the swing for a while. She can pump herself and go really high now. We caught a spider and sat on the swing observing them for a while.
I met Kimmy and Jared afterwards at the park they were taking the boys fishing at. Kenzie went too. We had fun and they caught lots of little fish and then they threw them back in. Jacob was doing a pretty good job at learning how to cast. His mommy was an excellent teacher. Kenzie and I left there and while I got dinner, she swam in the pool. Dad and I dropped her off at her house when we went to the hospital to visit a lady from our church who had fallen. She is 92 and is the sweetest person.
She didn't break any thing but bruised her arm badly. We anointed her with oil and prayed for her. Then we went to the funeral home as a man from our church's dad just passed away. We got there at 7pm and they were closed. They let us go in for a few minutes, but the family was gone. Melissa called me when I got home. Max talked to me and was so sad that he had to sleep most of the time I was there, and I was gone when he woke up. He was so precious. It made me sad that I couldn't spend more time with him too.

I felt bad having to put Max down for a nap shortly after I just got there. He was so good about going to bed.

Hailey took this picture of Nana and Jack.

Nephew Matthew's graduation party....

After church, we came home, changed, and went to pick up grandpa. We got to Matthew's party and it was packed. We had a hard time finding a place to sit. Aunt Carol saw us and saw that we had grandpa with us so she found a spot for us. We got to sit with her, Uncle Fred and Freddy. A little later, Kimmy and her family, and Vikki and her family came and sat with us too. The crowd had thinned a little by then. The food was delicious and there were lots of nice pictures that brought back many memories of Matthew.

Fishing Contest for the grandchildren...there are a lot of pictures in this posting

The kiddos were all in a fishing contest. (All but baby Jack of course) It was a beautiful day weather wise. I picked grandpa up as he was excited about getting to watch the kids fish. We had lots of fun. The kids each got a free fishing pole and a free lunch. They had fun catching fish. Jacob was the most patient. He would just sit there for the longest time. He even caught fish when he laid his pole down. They all put their fish in their bucket and took them to be measured. They also got to paint fish on their white shirts they brought. Messy, but fun was the word for that.
The top prize was a charter boat trip. We were so surprised when they drew Max's name for that. Bruce will love going with him for that. They gave many prizes away. Jared won a hat with fish on it. Adam and Jacob had lots of fun playing under the picnic tables. Max and Jacob were buddies. They played ring around the rosie and played in the stones. Jacob and Adam opened their birthday presents from Aunt Vikki and Uncle Terry. They were so exicted about the cars, jammies and it was so cute because Jacob came running with the sunscreen and said "Look mommy, sunscreen for the beach". He was so excited to get sunscreen. Then they got umbrellas from Aunt Missy, Uncle Bruce, Hailey, Max and Jack. They loved those too. They are so thankful for whatever they get. I love how all my grandkids appreciate everything they get. Grandpa said it was a very nice day for him. Kenzie and I went back to the beach later, but it turned cool and the wind picked up so we didn't go in the water. Bill and I went on a date night when we got home. We went to an outlet mall and went shopping. Also went out to dinner. We had fun and found lots of good deals.
