I woke up at 3:30 and came out to my recliner. I got my Glacier Cherry Gatorade and put it next to me. I could only drink until 5:456 and had to be getting ready, so only drank 30 of the 40 fl. oz. We left for the hospital and got there a little early. It was pretty windy outside and in the 30’s. A girl took us right back so I could get weighed and checked in. My surgeon saw me and came up to me, shook my hand and said hi. He told us he had one surgery before mine and should get at mine around 10. I went into pre op and had the nicest girls working on me. They were like the Dream Team, kind, fast efficient and fun. I had to go across the hall to the bathroom a couple of times from drinking so much. They told me it was good that I drank all of that because it was so easy to find a vein and put the IV in. Bill called Melissa and Vikki to let them know my surgery would be around 10:30 a.m. They came up about 15 minutes later. Kimmy and family FaceTimed us while they were driving to Indiana to go to Jared’s parents. Jared was telling me to break a leg. I guess he knew what was ahead for me lol. It was nice to say hi and talk to each of the boyslnIt was nice that Kimmy could be there with us the whole day via FaceTime too. I got to FaceTime with Hailey and Jack, Kenzie and Rehvyn too! Ha ha, if they only knew how many were really in our room lol. My doctor came in after he was done with his other surgery. He explained things again and is so knowledgable. He always has a big smile. Vikki asked him if she could take a picture of him with me an he said yes, but then added maybe I would want one after three weeks when I a really feeling well. He left and the Anethesiologist came in and explained I would be having.a spinal. He was the same one Vikki had for her surgery. After he left, the Dream Team girls came in again. I had told my girls about them and was happy they could meet each other. They were so nice and had told us we could have 3 up there instead of the usual 2. The girl at the front desk had told them only 2. The nurse anestisist came in and was super nice and explained everything she was doing when she gave me the spinal. I am so thankful they have such nice workers when you have to go through something like that. They wheeled me back to the OR and I was looking at all of the big lights and all of the people helping. I felt peaceful the whole time before my surgery. I woke up and it was 4 p.m. when I when I came to in recovery. I felt like sleeping, but thought about Bill and the girls waiting, so tried harder to wake up. They took me to my room and Bill, Melissa, Vikki and Hailey came in. Hailey had brought me no bake cookies to have later. Yum. Kimmy of course was on FaceTime which really made me happy. I had a nice private room. I told them they needed to go home because they were there all day. The nurse taking care of me took my vitals and said they were good. She put medicine in my IV and took good care of me. After she was done, her and another girl stood by me while I used my walker to go to the bathroom. They left me in the bathroom for about 5 minutes after I pushed the button. I finally knocked on the door, then opened it and asked if the were coming. It was painful to stand for that long so soon. I was glad when they came so I could walk back to bed. I took a nap after that. In the evening, Bruce and Melissa came up to my room with chocolate covered cashews and flowers with a balloon from each daughter and family I slept more, got checked more. took more meds which went on all through the night. I’m glad I could sleep on my back so good in between their coming in to check on me. I sure do love my family and how thy love me. Vikki and Melissa had a yummy turkey pita bread sandwich they loved, so Bill ate the hospital meal I ordered after he went down and got me one of those sandwiches. I couldn’t lower my tray and my legs were tight against the tray, so tried eating it, but it was way too messy with all that lettuce on it. Bill got me chicken strips and mashed potatoes, plus beans and I ate them. I told him to leave after that so he could get home and rest and I could sleep. I was so thankful to God that all went well.
