4/14/18...A Stay at Home Kind of Day! Sleet, icy roads. high winds. Winter Storm Warning for two days! Hibernated all day! Made Homemade Soup, Didn't get to go to Girls of Grace Dance Recital

Made a big pot of Homemade Vegetable Soup

Outside the back door this morning

Driveway  covered in ice

Ice Everywhere

Got up and it was just raining out.  A half hour later it was sleeting out.  Stayed home all day. Melissa and Max were feeling a little better which I was happy to hear.  Made a big pot of homemade veggie soup which tasted good on a day like today.  Went out to get the mail and I made sure I walked on the grass as much as I could since sidewalks, driveway and road were all ice.  Walked very carefully.  Melissa and I didn't go to the Girls of Grace Recital Debbie had gotten me tickets to because it was too icy out and I did't want to drive on bad roads.
At about 7, our power went out.  I had told Bill a couple of days ago he should make sure the generator was ready since they were forecasting a storm.  He procrastinated and when the power went out, went outside in the awful sleet and wind to get the generator ready.  Well the battery was dead so he had to drive on the yucky roads to get a new one.  Came home and was trying to get it going and the electricity came back on.  He got it started right afterwards and came in. The power went off a couple of times after we went to bed, but came right back on.  In the morning, it was off for about 5 minutes but then came back on and stayed on.

4/13/18...Picked up Max and took him to the doctor. Went back to Melissa's and ate pizza for lunch. Got groceries...Picked Hailey, Jack and Evan up from school. Took Hailey to see "Miracle Season at the movies.

Max was so excited that the Star Wars Lego set he saved for so long came today

Max's rash

Hailey

Melissa called me and told me Max was all ready to go back to school, but then got a rash.  She asked me if I could take him to the doctor.  I got ready and read my Bible and then went to pick up Max.  He sure was happy his new lego set came.  Made up for him not being able to go back to school when he had woke up so excited to go back.  Then he got the rash.  Poor Boy.  I took him and the dr. said his antibiotic wasn't working and the rash was from bacteria from his strep throat.  She said to stop the antibiotic and give him Benadryl.  He is to start on a new antibiotic tomorrow.
We ate pizza when we got back to Melissa's.  I picked up some groceries in case we get the bad ice storm they are saying we will get.  Put some gas in the car too.  Got home and unpacked groceries and put them away.  Went and picked up Jack, Evan and Hailey from school.  Brought them to my house and Papa watched the boys.  Took Hailey and got her a Nacho BelGrande at Taco Bell.  Then she and I went to see the movie, Miracle Season, a true story about a volleyball team whose star player was killed in a moped accident.  I went to pay for the large popcorn and two large pops we got and the girl said I had enough points on my rewards card that it covered it all.  Didn't have to pay anything.  So nice!  Melissa went to Med Express again because her antibiotic ran out and she is still sick and congested.  I told her today she needed to go today before the ice storm hits tomorrow and the next day.  I was happy she did.  She messaged me during the movie and she had a great doctor there who listened to her and Bruce.  She did an X-ray and didn't see any pneumonia which makes us all happy.  She ordered a steroid and strong antibiotic so Melissa will be better soon now.  They showed the doctor a picture of Max's rash now and she is pretty sure he has Scarlet Fever which is the same bacteria as strep throat.  Said the new antibiotic the doctor ordered should clear it up.  Dropped Hailey off at home and came home to hibernate and watch Movies with Bill.

4/11/18...Went to Ollie and learned about the tragedy of the sinking of the SS Eastland. Interesting, but so sad that over 800 people died.

The athletes at Bethlehem working out and doing stretches.  Hailey is second from the right

Jack

Jack
Max was feeling  better today.

I got ready to go walking at the SportsZone and Bill called to see if I wanted to go to Ollie.  I changed and got ready to go with him.  There was a really good speaker who talked about the SS Eastland that sank in the Chicago River in 1915.  So sad that so many people died.  Quite interesting to hear how that ship kept being sold and how after it sank, they sold it to the navy.  They took the top two floors off of it and redid the whole ship.  President Truman took a water tour on it.
Bill and I went shopping for Storage containers.  He wanted to find one that had two drawers.  He found a three drawer one but when we got home it wouldn't fit.  He figured out they could be separated, so he took one off and it fit perfectly.  I picked Jack and Evan up from school . Took them home and helped Evan with some school work, then took him and Jack home with me so I could take them with me to church for Delta Club.  They helped papa pick up wood from the trees he had cut down.  They worked hard and were happy when papa gave them some money.  Good boys and hard workers. I only had hot dogs to fix so I made them and had chips and string beans with them.  The boys each ate two and said it was the best meal ever!  They are so cute!  I didn't even have buns to go with the hotdogs.  Taught my class and the kids were excited to get to plant tomato seeds and morning glory seeds in a little container they made from a toilet paper roll.  They can just plant the whole thing in the ground once it is ready to put outside.  They had lots of fun.

Celebrated Roy's 83 birthday and Ralph's birthday at Small Group

Went to breakfast at Sullivans.  There were 14 of us there.  After breakfast we went to Aldi's to pick up a package of Roy's favorite cookies for his birthday.  We went out with them on Easter and after we ate, he opened his trunk up and offered us a pinwheel cookie.  So cute!  Saw Cathy and Tim in Aldi's.  So happy to see them.  Went home and worked on packing and going through stuff for the camper.  Went to Home Depot and got some storage containers Bill wanted for his stuff he's putting in the bottom storage area of the camper.  Went to Meijer's too.  Got a sub on the way home.  Worked some more on the camper.  Went and picked up Hailey, Jack and Evan from school.  Dropped them off and Melissa still had a migraine.  I left and thought about how she had told me a while back that a mocha ice drink can stop a migraine if you give yourself a brain freeze.  Dr. Shinko had told her that a long time ago.  I picked up a frappe for her and took it back to her.  She called me when I got home and said she was able to be up and her headache was gone.  Praise the Lord.  Came home and Vikki and the twins stopped over for a few minutes to drop some stuff off.
I was happy to see them and happy to see Lucy too.  Got stuff ready for small group, and then ate left over salmon for dinner.  Celebrated Roy and Ralph's Birthday's at small group.  Kim Reminder made a beautiful cake for them.  Great lesson in care group and Bill did a wonderful job leading it.

This is the cutest little puppy.  I love Lucy!  In her car seat Misty gave her.
Vikki picked up Melissa's kids and too them to school for her.  I was going to do it, but then Vikki told Melissa she was going by there any way and would pick them up all day.  My daughters are all so loving and giving.  This was so nice of her and is such a blessing to me and Melissa.
I enjoyed watching a pileated woodpecker this morning when I got up.  Bill and I ate breakfast and then I went to Melissa's.  I cleaned her three bathrooms.  Then I had to home and got a couple things Bill needed together a for our taxes and then headed to our appointment to get our taxes done.  Went home and ate an egg salad sandwich.  I picked up a turkey sub and a pizza for Melissa and Max,  and then went back to Melissa's.  Cleaned the Living room and dining room and then left to go pick up the kids from school for Melissa.   Just had to pick Jack and Evan up.  I was so happy to see them and they were very excited to see me and tell me about their day.  I dropped them off at home and then headed home to make dinner.  I made salmon, baked potatoes and green beans.  Did my Bible Study lesson and then we watched American Idol.  They have some very talent singers this time.

4/8/18...Went to church, Worked on packing camper, went to funeral home, went to Culver's, Watched Funnies Home Videos and When Calls the Heart

Went to church.  A friend, Rebecca, who doesn't drive came and told me she lost her wallet.  Didn't know if it was at Ollies, on the path from her apartment there or in her apartment.  I left church and took her to look for it.  She didn't find it, so she decided to stay home and go through things in her apartment to see if she could find it.  I was praying.  I went back to church and got there a half hour after church started.  She messaged me during church that she found it.  I was so happy for her.  Worship was so good and Pastor gave such a great message.  After church, we ran Rebecca's mug she left in my car to her.  Stopped at Krogers and got some Spatz Wheat Bread.  Came home and ate.  Bill took a nap, so I went out and started putting shelf liner on the shelves in the camper and put under the sink mats down in the kitchen and bathroom.  Put dishes in the cupboard.  There is so much room  to pack things.  So much fun working out there today.  I took all the plastic wrap and packaging off the shelves in the refrigerator too.  Played my music through the bluetooth built in speaker.  So  nice.  We went to the funeral home at 5.  Our friends who belong to Faith Riders, Andrea and her mom, lost their brother/son who was just 56 to cancer.  So sad.  He knew Jesus so that was the good news.
Watched America's Funniest Videos and When Calls the Heart.

4/7/18...Went to Dennis's Retirement Party at G's

We had fun at Dennis's Retirement Party

Dennis

Got up and worshipped and read the Bible.  Love being able to say "Hey Google" and have it turn on worship on the television.  Made oatmeal for Bill and I and also coffee.  Cleaned the house.  So happy to have energy to clean again.  Cleaned the fireplace insert too and Bill picked up more wood pellets.  Glad he's healthy to do that now too.  Went to Menard's and then went to G's for Dennis's retirement party at 4:30.  We ate pizza pockets that were delicious and had a great time. We left around 7 and walked through Lowes.  Had fun looking at things we need to get when we remodel our bathroom.  We watched a movie when we got home.
