Washington D C Trip 5/22/09

Kenzie had made this welcome home sign and also picked me lilacs and put them in a vase. She and Vikki were here when we got home and they surprised us and waited in the shed when we were putting the bike in. They sure gave me a scare with their surprise. Thanks for all the help with Grandpa, Vikki, and for all the fun things you did with him.

This was the escalator to the subway in DC. It made me nervous to look down it.

This was an Italian Restaurant we went to where you could order family style
and everyone try each thing. We ordered spaghetti, lasagna, and stuffed chicken. Yummy! I even tried octopus appetizers but they were YUK!!!

This couple makes a point to find Veterans and thank them and give them a gift and a letter.

This is the National Archives. I took this for Vikki as she did so much reasearch to find a video of her dad when he was on the Bob Hope Show in Vietnam...This is where it is if they have it...but it was closed when we got there.
Boo Hoo.

The White House
This was the marine who stands saluting for the entire parade which can last from three and a half to four hours. He never breaks his salute. He has been doing this for 7 years to honor those missing in action or prisioners of war.

This was the six of us who went on the trip in our matching shirts outside our hotel.

The World War II Memorial...This was very touching to see also.

The Lincoln Memorial...It was so beautiful.

Some nice pictures of the Vietnam Memorial Wall...It was very touching being there to see this.

This was called Thunder Alley. It's where all the booths where people were selling stuff were set up.

This is the first stop we made to spend the night. It was in Wheeling, Ohio.

Thanks Eric. I couldn't remember the name of the restaurant. It sure was the best food. We did see the table with the pope's head in the center enclosed in glass. I didn't notice any of the pictures of him though.
