He loves sledding

It was snowing when we woke up.  Bill got ready and left for church.  I put worship music on.  Vikki stopped over before she went to her church and brought homemade mashed potatoes she made for Bill to take to the party today.  She put them in a container, then we put them in the roaster oven until time for him to leave.  She said Bay Road was really slippery and so was ours, but the rest were good.  She put my compression socks on for me while she was here and also put a chair in my room and took my stool to my makeup table out.  I need to be sitting on something higher right now.  She got my bread maker out for me too.  So I washed her potato pan out for her.  Glad I can do little things at least.  She is so sweet about helping any way she can.  She left and I watched our church service online.  What awesome worship and Pastor gave another message of Truth from the Word of God on what Christmas is all about and preached it with power and emotion.  I love how he loves God and His Word.  We are so blessed.

I did my hair and got ready after that.  It took a while but sure felt good.  I needed to rest after all that though.  Bill sent me the nice pictures from the party, and Julie texted me that she missed me and was packing up a plate of food for me.  We texted back and forth.  She let me know when Bill was wildly bidding on items in the auction lol.

I talked to Kimmy mostly and Jared some.  She was able to find the Christmas present I wanted to get for her and picked it up at the same sale price I got mine.  I was so happy she found one.  Where I got mine was out of stock.  Amazon had super high prices. It was fun talking to them.

I sure missed Bill today.  I was so glad when he got home.  We are pretty used to our routine.  I know it did him good to get away today though.  He had two take the potatoes in the roaster, two containers of banana cream pudding dessert, the plates, the silverware, the napkins, the table covers, and water bottles, and I wasn’t able to help him.  He sure needed to rest when he got home after showing me all the stuff he got which is below.

Tomorrow morning at 9:30 I go to see my surgeon for my Post Op Appointment.  Can’t wait to ask some questions and see how he thinks I’m doing.  I wrote my questions out ahead of time so I don’t forget.

Saturday, 12/6/25, Happy 68th Birthday to Brother Fred, Kenzie and Rehvyn came over, gave Kenzie her and Travis’s Birthday gifts, talked to Sue and Marie, Melissa & family, plus Lydia, and Vikki and Family went to the Living Nativity, Bill made banana cream pudding dessert

Rehvyn was so cute today when he came over.  He sure loves the trains and the stroller with the baby.
I told him to turn around so I could take his picture
Then Kenzie told him to stand on one foot.  He sure does a great job!
Papa helping Rehvyn get his boots on.  This should be good practice for putting my compression stockings on....I hope
Kenzie and Rehvyn gelling me goodbye.  I sure do love them!
I moved my flowers so I could see them better and enjoy them  more
My daily view is either ahead of me, or out the window to the left or the sliding glass door to the right.

Vikki, Isaac, behind them are Peyton, Kenzie, Jack, Bruce, Evan, Lydia, and Melissa

Rehvyn was interested in the music book

Kenzie FaceTimed with me so I felt like I was there with them

Rehvyn made me a Nativity Ornament with stickers.  He did a great job.  I can’t wait to hang it on my tree.  He really loved doing it and sure did concentrate.

Love this picture of Kenzie and Rehvyn arriving at the stable and seeing Mary, Joseph and Baby Jesus
Bill busy making two tins of banana cream putting dessert to take to the CMA Christmas party tomorrow, plus a bowl for me to have here.  Did did a great job and he cleaned up his mess perfectly.  I helped stir one of the bowls of pudding for him, but he did the rest.  He has been a very cheerful helper today

I was up three times during the night.  Guess it’s good for me to get some walking in.  I woke up once  to take medicine by my timer and twice to go to the bathroom.  I went back to sleep each time and didn’t dream.  I prayed not to dream before going to bed.
I listened to worship music before Bill got up and came out to the living room.  I took a shower, then got ready and was pretty tired after all of that.  I came back and put my legs up.  I put ice on too.  After about 45 minutes, I went and washed my compression socks by hand and then put them in a good place to dry.  Bill and I read our Bibles.  I set my timer to get up and walk around every hour for my 5 minutes.  I pushed my walker ahead and walked without it today for a few goo strides.  I am so thankful pain is gone.  Such a blessing from the Lord.

Kenzie and Rehvyn stopped in.  Kenzie brought Rehvyn over to me and I held him and he gave me a hug.  Then Papa got him a bowl of animal crackers.  He was happy to get them and more than willing to share with us.  He went and turned the tree lights on with the peddle when we told him to.  Then he played with the baby and stroller and played with the Thomas the trains too.

I offered them food, but they had just eaten.  Kenzie and Bill went upstairs and got Travis’s birthday gift and Kenzie’s.  We FaceTimed with Travis and Kenzie opened his gift for him.  It is a huge mailbox.  Their’s was too small.  Kenzie got a special plate with designs to make rings with and the rest money.  They were sure happy with their gifts.  Papa chased Rehvyn and made him laugh.  The three of them went down so Rehvyn could feed my fish and see them. They were all doing good they said.  They forgot to take a picture.  Kenzie and Rehvyn had to leave.  They were going to Vikki’s.  We FaceTimed with Vikki lots when they were here.

I got some beautiful cards today.  Have gotten lots so far.  So blessed.

Bill and I warmed up some vegetable beef soup we had picked up at Bob Evans and froze.  It tasted so good.  Bev had told us that they love it and do that, so we thought it would be a good idea for after my surgery.  Bill warmed it and served me.  He also brought me jello and peaches.  I had a pack of Belvita crackers too.

Vikki, Kenzie, Rehvyn, Peyton and Isaac went to the Living Nativity and met Bruce, Melissa, Jack, Evan and Lydia there.  Kenzie FaceTimed me when they got in the church which was so nice to see them all.  Rehvyn loved sitting in the church listening to Christmas Carols and clapping and dancing.  We all love it.  He loved walking through with the family shepherd too.  The Roman Guard asked Rehvyn what he had in his hand. They sound really gruff.  Rehvyn opened his had and showed him and said look.  Such a cute kiddo. The camel wasn’t there this year.  Kenzie FaceTimed me again after they were done and in the gym having cookies and drinks.  It was so nice seeing everyone since I couldn’t be there in person and watching Rehvyn do such a great job making my ornament.   I love my family including me.

I talked to Sue a long time, talked to Marie for an hour, and texted with Maddy lots.  Bill made banana cream pudding dessert for tomorrow’s Christmas party.  I only helped a little.  He did a great job and I can’t wait to eat mine tomorrow.  I wish I could go with him, but I know that is out of the question right now.  I will be good and take care of my hip so I get back to normal quicker.

Friday, 12/5/25, Kimmy came, Vikki didn’t feel good so didn’t come, Melissa and Hailey came over, brought us chips and queso sauce, Melissa waited on me and served me my food, Kimmy did so much for me today, they went home and got Hailey Expresso machine, made us expresso coffee’s,

Hailey making us expressos with her new machine.  She brought all of the ingredients too.
My milk was expired as of 12/3.  Did I hear about that....I have had grandkids with some sour milk experiences here....Poor kids
Kenzie sent us this cute picture of Rehvyn on Sandy the Horse at Meijer.  He loved sitting on it but cried when it started.  Lots of memories on Sandy the horse.
This is the Expresso Hailey made me.  It tasted as good as it looks...beautiful and yummy.
Peyton rolling out the tortilla dough.  I love her hair this way!

I got up at 7:45 so I could be ready when Kimmy came.  I am so excited she is coming.  She got here around 8:30 and was talking to Vikki.  Vikki couldn’t come because she didn’t feel good when she got up.  We talked and FaceTimed with her most of the day and she seemed like she was here in reality at least a little.  Kimmy started washing the coffee spot out of the carpet that Bill used the shampooer on and couldn’t get out.  She had most of it out, but could see a small spot of brown so kept working on it and made up a new solution to use on it.  I cleaned it right up.  Kimmy thought she still saw a spot, but much lighter, but Bill and I didn’t see anything.  She worked so hard on it.  Plus she made me oatmeal, washed all the rags and dried them that she used, took things upstairs, got things from the basement, checked on the fish, checked on Kit Kat and petted her,  filled all of my bird feeders, plus so many other things.  She’s sees what’s needed an just does it and it sure seemed nice.  Bill went and got groceries

Melissa and Hailey came and Hailey got her birthday month free chips and quest from Taco Bell.  Melissa got a big one for us to all share too.  Yum!  Melissa waited on me too and was willing to help with anything.  Such sweet daughters.  Hailey brought her Expresso machine to Melissa’s, so they left to go pick it up and brought it and the ingredients I didn’t have and Hailey made us all the most delicous Expresso’s.  It was such a relaxing time visiting and sipping on them.  Well, a couple of us sipped...Kimmy and I.  We drink ours slow.  How special and what a great memory this was.  They stayed along time and we had a great time hanging out.  Kimmy gave Hailey two expresso pottery pieces she made and brought.  She had left two on the porch for Vikki to pick up and had these two extra.  They were all beautiful.

Melissa and Hailey had to leave to go pick up the boys from school.  Kimmy stayed until later and helped me more, plus visited with me more.  We had blueberries with sugar sprinkled lightly on them, Clementines and string cheese for a snack as we weren’t real hungry because of the chips and quest.

She made a coffee and left while she just had time to make it home before dark.
Bill picked up Bob Evan’s frozen potatoes to make for the CMA Christinas Party.  He decided it would be easier than peeling and making them.  I called Vikki and asked her a question about them and she said she would make Bill a tin of potatoes to take.  Yay!  I was trying to figure out how I would be able to make the frozen ones and keep stirring and standing for 3 boxes of them.  We are just giving them to Vikki as a trade now.  Such wonderful daughters who help out so much willingly.  I talked to Kenzie and she set up Aunt Debbie’s Christmas Village which is lots of work.  The lights and plugs she changed last year worked great so it went up faster.  She called me and said Debbie liked it so much she paid her extra.  No one else wants that job.  Kenzie is so good at it.

I’m glad I caught up on my blogs.  No fun to get behind.

Thursday, 12/4/25, Maddy was supposed to come but has sinus infection, On week two where I’m up 5 min an hour, than foot elevated again., Bill had appt. and X’ray of hip, Met Ross at VA, Had zoom meeting with State Coordinators in evening

Lots of birds coming to window feeders today.  A big red cardinal was just on it.  I moved too slow.  My Christmas Cactus has blossoms all around it this year.  It always has done one side at a time before.  So fun to watch!

I slept in the recliner again.  Went to just taking Tylenol yesterday.  Doing fine and am pain free.  Yay.  I am to walk for 5 minutes every hour this week.  In the morning, I’m up longer as it takes time to get ready.  I made me my coffee this morning.  I also had a bowl of blueberries, 2 Clementines, and 2 string cheese sticks.  I sprinkled a little sugar on the blueberries.

I messaged Maddy to see what time it worked for her to come over today and she said she had been in Urgent care and has a sinus infection which they gave her an antibiotic for and also Brielle has the same thing.  They wouldn’t give her anything.  Maddy was taking her to the doctor and I found out later he put her on a steroid.  I sure am praying for their healing and for Alec and Mason not to get it.

Bill went to his VA appt.  He had an X-Ray on his hip and he got a call later saying he had degenerative disease and bone on bone.  They have to try therapy first and then they will approve surgery if that doesn’t help.  I laid hands on him and prayed for him, and am continuing to pray.  He ran into Ross at the VA so they had breakfast together.

I warmed up some pizza for lunch and did good getting everything to my seat.  The G’s pizza was still delicious.  I took good walks around the house every hour.  My leg is working so well, so following doctor’s orders pays off.

I listened to good worship in the daytime and in the evening.  Beautiful music from the Chosen Christmas.  Love really focusing on the true meaning of Christmas and what God did.  Such awesome love.

Around 6, Bill and I read our Bibles.  I fell asleep when I was reading my last chapter of Esther.  It was so good, but next thing I knew I was in a deep sleep.  Bill called my name kind of panicky and said he forgot he had a zoom meeting with Jay and all of the State Coordinators for CMA.  He said I had to get it on the computer for him.  I couldn’t even find where it said my mail was.  I told him I couldn’t.  After a few minutes, I woke up enough to help him.  He was sitting on his recliner on the loveseat next to mine.  Well, my phone rang and it was Vikki, but I couldn’t talk because the zoom meeting was going to start, then Melissa called but I couldn’t talk for same reason, then Gayla called and same thing.  The zoom meeting started and I told Bill to make sure he didn’t aim the computer so I was in vies.  I did my best to lay back and keep a blanket between me and him.  The computer battery was getting low so, I had to hand him the charger cord which went over me and plugged into the computer.  Now I was trapped and couldn’t even move if I had to.  The zoom meeting went for 1 hour and 20 minutes.  I sure did some praying that it would get over quickly.  It was a great meeting with all giving input about the year and the CMA chapters and leaders.  They are all doing a great job and Jay really told them so.  They all prayed for me at the end, then it was over and I could get up and head to the bathroom.  I didn’t call Gayla back because she doesn’t stay up late, but I did get to talk to Vikki and Melissa.  I sure had another weird dream again too.  I will be glad when I am totally off medicine.  It won’t be long.  I slept good other than the dreaming and trying to wake up from it.

I am excited that Kimmy is coming to spend the day tomorrow.  Vikki is too.  Have to call Melissa to see.

Wed., 12/3/25, Received beautiful flowers from my church family, texted with Pastor Ken, checked on friend Debbie, did exercises, pain much better today

Flowers my New Life Church Family sent me today.  They are beautiful and are from one of my favorite local shops.

I woke up in my recliner and had been dreaming again.  Another weird dream!  I got up walked around, went to the bathroom, got some ice water, then came in and took my medicine and got comfy in my recliner again.  I can’t wait to get back to our bed to sleep.
I woke up at 8 and heard Bill getting up.  He put a scoop in Kit Kat’s bowl on the deck and put water in her electric dish so it doesn’t freeze on her.  I’ve been checking on my Christmas Cactus and it’s doing good.  A beautiful bouquet of flowers came.  Paster had just been texting me, and after I saw they were from the church, I texted him back and let him know they came and sent him a picture.  I appreciate my church family.

Bill left to go get a part for his tractor, then went to G’s Pizza and picked up a yummy pizza and cinnamon rolls for our dinner.  It was so good.

I did my exercises while I was taking my last strong med. and did great.  At 8 I went to just Tylenol from now on, but saved 1 just in case anything severe happens yet.   So far so good.
I fell asleep and had to start my blog over from where the flower picture was.  Whoops.
I texted my friend who had knee surgery yesterday to check on her.  She’s doing ok, but in that lots of pain stage.  Lots of prayers going for her.

I started making some ice as our ice maker is getting low.  I filled my thermos with ice, then water.  It tastes so good.  I talked to Vikki and Kimmy today and have been texting with Maddy, Joan and Tina.  Maddy’s coming over tomorrow, so looking forward to a visit with her.

Tues., 12/2/25, Ordered more things for Christmas on Amazon, ordered table cloths for CMA Christmas Party, Vikki came over, My doctor called, Adam stopped in, did my exercises by myself,

Bill served me breakfast this morning...Melissa’s yummy banana bread and two tangelo’s.  He even peeled them for me.  Yum!
Our friends, Anna and Randy and their friends Debbie and Denny want us to go out to dinner with them before this concert, then all head to the concert at BayShore afterwards.  We met them this summer and all hung out together at BayShore.  Really hope we can get together with them.
Eli made this cool can opener and Kimmy sent me a picture.  I would love one for Christmas Wink Wink, Nudge Nudge.  I don’t think I could lose one like that!

I went to bed in our bed last night, waited mostly awake until my alarms for medicine went off, took them, then moved out to my recliner because I had hoped to be able to lay on my side I didn’t have the operation on, but I couldn’t figure out a painless way to get there.  Finally I decided it was easier just to go lay flat in my recliner that I can position different ways.  I slept until my alarms went off again for the next rounds of meds.  Eliquis is added in the morning and then 12 hours later added again.  I did a lot of dreaming that I was at a church helping do volunteer work that was spread out and not to easy.  I was happy when I woke up and it was just a dream.  I took my next meds, then went to sleep until my last alarm went off and Bill came out.  I got up and went to the bathroom, then got ready.  Bill peeled me two tangelos and cut a nice slice of banana bread for me for breakfast.  After we ate, he took the garbage out, then when he was done, he brought the shower chair in from the garage that Melissa lent me.  He had it in the shower for me, then helped me get what I needed ready for my shower.  I had it set up with everything I needed close by.  He was on standby incase I needed him.  I remembered my OT saying I might be able to stand for my shower when it was time to take it.  I started out sitting, but was able to move to sanding and just hung on the the rails for security.  It went really easy and didn’t take long.  Bill decided he would shower after and wipe everything down for us.  I moved into our room and sat at my make up table and did my hair.  It felt good to be able to get ready on my own.  I was ready for my recliner after that.  My surgeon called me to check on me and see how I was doing.  He was happy to hear it was going so well. He told me to be really careful if I had to go outside and that he prefers me to keep using the walker more for having it there if needed than actually putting my weight on it and walking now.  I can walk pretty good without it.  I am all for being safe though.  He told me the main thing now is that I walk and practice walking the right way heel to toe and with a good stride.  I texted with my friend Vikki for a while.  She checks on me everyday and wants to know how I am doing.  She went through this the year before last so is very interested.  I talked to Sue and Marie today too.  Adam also stopped in to say hi on his way to the dentist.  He mixed up the time, so didn’t have as much time to visit as he thought he would.  He mentioned going to Culver’s afterwards and Papa told him to call him and he would meet him there and buy him his meal.  He never called though, so maybe he couldn’t eat for a while after having two of his teeth filled.  The guy was supposed to find a boiler for our furnace if he could a put it on today too, but we didn’t hear from him either.  I washed my compression socks by hand, then Bill put them by the heater to dry.  He had a coffee spill, so he brought the shampooer down and cleaned it up and also had the fan by my socks.  They were dry in no time.  I had him try to put then on me, but forgot to give him baggies to slide over my feet to make it easier.  He couldn’t get them on without it being really painful, so I had Vikki come after she went to the phamacy.and she remembered the bags and put them on pretty easily.  Yay!  Bill did surprise me and brought me home a Hershey’s candy bar with almonds.  I had been thinking about my dad and how he would always say to me at Meijer’s when I took him for groceries, Sweet Tooth Today.  I was hoping Bill would think of that and bing me one and he did.  It made me so happy.

I did more walking and got some small jobs done, then took another short nap.  The medicine sure makes me sleepy.  I waited till in the evening to do my therapy exercises. I was so happy I could do everything by myself.  Love seeing good progress and independence.  I got ready for bed afterwards and had Bill start a lot of laundry and had him give Kit Kat a little of her food.  Another cat is trying to eat lots of her food, so he is just going to feed her a cup each day like I was doing when he sees her at her bowl.

It was a good day, a busy day, a relaxing day, a family day and a friend day.  Lots of people make my day better each day.

12/1/25, Monday, Happy 20th Birthday Max, We love you so much! Bill pick Max up from school, Melissa came over and stayed with me,, She helped me with my therapy, Bill took Max to Culvetd, He brought Melissa an I lunch,

Happy 20th Birthday Max! We love you so much!
Dirt cake with gummy worms and Cookies and Cream Ice cream for Max’s Birthday
Yep! 20 candles he blew out
Had to get a picture with Vader in it with him.  I scared Vader a little when I got really close with my walker

I was so happy I could actually get my own medicine, sit up myself and take it without waking Bill up to help me.  Lots of improvements.  I slept longer in bed, then after that I moved out by myself, went to the bathroom, carried stuff I needed in my basket to the walker.  After sleeping in stretched out arm position.  I am using a cloth card holder bag that Jared’s mom made for me.  It works great as a phone holder right now. I got Jared in the background for her. Mom’s always like to see pictures of their boys!  Melissa came over at Noon.  Dad had left to pick up Max from college and since it was his birthday, he was taking him to Culver’s afterwards.  Melissa helped me so much with my therapy.  I sure helps with the harder ones to have someone make it so I can do it the right way.  When I went too lift up my surgery leg with Melissa, it went just fine and I could even move it on the bed now.  Melissa has probably had more therapy than anyone I know.  She was a great help and I did them all this time even the chair one.  I was tired after that.  Bill brought our food and we ate, then Melissa had to go pick up the boys from school.  She was going home to make banana bread, then Bruce, Jack, Max and Melissa were coming back to bring birthday cake and ice cream for Max’s Birthday.  We all had dirt cake and ice cream. except Evan who was in Grand Rapids with his friend Lydia’s family to see a Cirque du Soleil. The birthday goodies were sure good.  Yum!  Thanks Bruce!.  Melissa brought yummy banana cake for us too, but we will have that tomorrow.  She found an easy recipe that is so delicious.  Thanks Hailey.  I need to know this secret too.  Bruce took Jack to fencing class and Bill took Melissa and Max home.  I went and got my teeth brushed and got ready for bed.  I stay in comfy stuff all day.  I texted Kimmy because Vikki said they would probably be at Kohls in Saginaw tonight. They were.  I asked if they were going to stop over since they were so close by.  They did and I was so happy.  I haven’t seen them since the night before my surgery.  I sure need those hugs.  I showed them how I can walk pretty good now and they all cheered me on.  Jared said I walked a lap!  My lap was around the living room, then through the dining room, then through the kitchen, then the other dining area, then the foyer and then back to the living room.  We sure had a nice visit and it sure felt good to have them here.  I love having all of my family here to see.

Picture Eli’s Uncle Dee drew for him and put a pendant on for Eli.  It is very cool.

They got ready to leave.  We said our goodbyes and I got a hug from Kimmy.  I took my bedtime meds and now I am really ready for bed.  It was a great family day. I got to FaceTime Kenzie and Rehvyn and got to FaceTime Vikki, Peyton and Isaac too.
